Where can I find oil filters for my bike? I'm having a hard time finding them anywhere.

Man! I wish my CB200 had one of those! Image

(all I have is a "slinger" type filtration system, in case you were not aware) (not you, Bookwus, readers in general.)

Hiya tom,

Yep my CL350 has the slinger set-up also.

But my experience (about 30 years worth) with VWs has convinced me that if one changes out the oil on a regular (religiously regular) schedule, the engine will be a happy little bucket of bolts - even without the filter. I'm of the school of the thought that one of the filter's main advantages are that they can prolong the period between oil changes. If one does change out the oil regularly the engine can expect a long and troublefree life.

Which reminds me of an article I read just a bit ago. there's a fellow in New Jersey (IIRC) who has a Volvo with over 3 million miles on the clock. I think it's the Guiness world record holder for mileage. In any event, when asked how he wound up with that many miles, he replied that he drove just as anybody else would but that he was careful to follow a very regular service program. In his opinion, the most important thing one could do to lengthen the life of the engine was to change the oil.

I guess we are degrading the original thread, but yes, I intend to clean my slinger very well, while I have the right case off, and change the oil regularly (just like my other bike!).

(Pre '70 Beemers have slingers, also, but you have to pull the crank to get to them!)

What kind of bike are you talking about, anyway?

Hiya spooch,

You wouldn't happen to have a K number for your bike, would you? I'll be darned if I can translate a year of manufature into a K number for the 450 series. Is this a Black Bomber by any chance?

I took a look at parts diagrams for CB450s K1 through K3. Although the K3 appears to have had a differently situated oil filter, all of the oil filters for K1 - K3 were the slinger type oil filters. But there are quite a few 450s.

Hiya spooch,

I took a look at the exploded diagram for a K6. It shows a slinger type oil filter. Non disposeable type oil filter which can be disassembled and cleaned. Are you sure that you have a disposeable canister type oil filter?

To be honest I wasn't sure what I had, I never had a bike without a disposeable filter. What is the procedure with the filter I have?Do I just clean it or....?
